Peconic, Long Island Vineyard
Passing through Peconic we noticed a vineyard with lots of grapes...all different in color. I stopped to take a photo for this painting and of course, I had to taste some of their wines. The Merlot was excellent! Don't forget to serve that Dry Rose' next week since it goes very well with Turkey. "Happy Thanksgiving" to all my friends.

This is lovely, Hilda: one of your best I've seen! I especially like the varied colors of the ripe and unripe grapes: very effective.
ReplyDeleteThank you Diana....it was fun painting something a little different from my other paintings.
ReplyDeleteThe different in hues of the grapes against green background looks amazing and I like the certain kind of abstractness associated with this piece Hilda!
ReplyDeletethank you Padmaja for visiting and your kind comment. The sun was hitting the grapes and actually changing the color of the grapes..a lot lighter than they were..making it more interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy this came out really well, Hilda. Of course, I'm not surprised by that. I noticed however, in your 'about me', you didn't give me any credit for suggesting little faces on the each of the grapes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha.....Unless a glass of merlot, I don't want to see another grape for awhile...although, I did enjoy painting this one. Love your photography of the bird. You definitely are the "bird watcher".
ReplyDeleteHi Hilda, this is a nice painting and you have captured the subtle colors of the grapes very well. Isn't it nice to paint something different once in a while?
ReplyDeleteWonderful composition of grapes, Hilda!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! :)
Thank you Adriana for stopping by. you're right..it was nice to paint something different.
ReplyDeleteDean...glad you stopped by my blog and your kind comment. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteDear Hilda,
ReplyDeleteYou steadily make lovely and impressive pastel works. So sensitive in handling value and colors. Great. How long did it take you to finish up that work above? I assume painstaking. Please keep up. You can teach me how to make pastel.
Kind regards, Sadami
Hilda, I especially like the contrast between the grapes and the almost abstract leaves and vines -- lovely piece.
ReplyDeleteGlad you stopped by Sadami. It took awhile to finish all those grapes but it was definitely fun to paint.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary for that kind comment. It's so appreciated.

ReplyDeletePerfect painting for the season Hilda! I'd like to try some of that wine myself.:-) I like the close up composition you chose, zooming in on those luscious grapes. Well done!
