This is my latest commissioned house painting. The homeowner requested the house be painted in Black and White with only the flag and flowers in color.
Thank you Diane, Crystal and Carrie. They really did like the painting. I wasn't sure how the painting was going to look being black and white but I was happy when I added the little color especially the Flag. thank you for stopping by.
Hi Hilda, very nice piece, I'm sure your clients are very pleased. It must have been a bit of a challenge to only colour two areas and not have the colour overwhelm the rest. I like how you made subtle value changes in places like the paned windows, which I think creates a more lively and realistic painting. Well done! And in case I don't talk to you before, here's wishing the best of the Christmas season to you and your family.
Thank you Bruce for stopping by and giving me such a nice comment. I love color so I would have used my colorful pastels..however, making it black and white made the flag stand out..
Thank you Claire for your comment. I never realized how challenging it is to capture every detail in painting a house, but I enjoyed doing it.
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year !!!
My husband said the same thing Julian! He wanted to know why not a photograph instead of a portrait. Thank you for stopping by and for the kind comment.
Hi Ruth...she didn't say why she wanted the painting in black and white. Now I wonder what it would have looked like in color...hmmmmm. looking forward to your next "painting a day". Thank you for stopping by and your comment.
Beautiful work, especially in the black and white. I like the idea of just color on the flowers and flag. It's different. Excellent detail. Brings back memories for me as I use to work in Oceanside, and lived in that area of LI.
Hi Bonnie, thank you..I never realized how popular house paintings are. I have another two requests.
Hi Mary, thank you for your nice comment. I really enjoyed doing the house.
Hi Sue, thank you for stopping by..and leaving such a nice comment. Oceanside is a very nice town. I believe my next painting will be from the same town.
Beautiful house painting, Hilda. Houses seem so detailed and challenging, but you really did a great job with it. I have been wanting to paint my house but I know it will be challenging. You have inspired me, so maybe I will give it a try!
Thank you Theresa. I appreciate that wonderful comment. I truly don't think you'll have a problem with your house painting! Your paintings are absolutely amazing....I love them all.
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
Nice one, Hilda!

ReplyDeleteI am sure, the house owner is proud to own this one, the details are very engaging Hilda!
ReplyDeleteHi there Hilda!... What a lovely keepsake this owner has here!
ReplyDelete"You" have given it a very Home-y look and feel! Love the limited use of colour used with the flowers and flag - sly foxen!HAHA!!
Although it is a fully frontal point of perspective... there is no flatness... "You" have given it a wondderful and real sense of volume! Good stuff!
Good Painting!... and a very Merry Christmas to "You" and "yours" Hilda!
Warmest regards,
Bruce

A really nice job on the intricate detail.
ReplyDeleteI believe the purpose of having only the flowers and flag in color is to point out the two very important things in their lives.
