Wow Hilda - you read my heart. I love old barns and you have captured this one brilliantly. I love the composition, color, texture - EVERYTHING! Wonderful piece of work in my humble opinion.
Wow! 4 barns! time for you to paint them Kimberly. I've always liked them..taking photos wherever I travel. So many wonderful colors and styles...thanks for stopping by.
SUE...thank you so much for that nice comment. There's something about old barns that I love..maybe the color or the rustic look.. I have a lot of photographs still of many barns all over the country..maybe I'll do another?
Hilda, so beautifully done. I like the way you repeat triangles and the one on the left roof points to the roof on the right. The texture is palpable -- the old door and the lower part of the barn are luscious. The close cropping is very effective!
Wow, I love this one!! The composition is great and I really like the way there is a little bit of sky with birds showing in the background, which gives it so much depth.
Hilda I love the close cropping you chose for your composition. It's almost like a still life. Beautiful! The aging of the wood on the door, big metal lock, corrugated roof are perfect. The three birds in flight contrast movement and life with the stillness, and emptiness of the abandoned barn. Really well done.
Theresa, Claire, Anu, Padmaja, and Julian. Thank you all for the encouraging words. These comments coming from such amazing artists like yourselves makes me so happy. Thank you.
Gosh, Hilda, you have cerainly captured the character of that old barn. Your painting made me want to just crawl in that open window and grab a wad of hey for feeding the horses. Your texture is beautiful!
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
