She looks very mysterious and charming,, the background and the way her hair blended in to the back ground has made the viewers attention be hundred percent on her face..great job with pastels Hilda!
Hi Hilda!... A VERY engaging and relaxed portrait here!
I particularly like the way that you have isolated the subject (fully lit and frontal) against the darkened background... creating a "formal"... elegant kind of feel.
What a stunner! Love your soft touch. The dramatically dark background merging with her dark hair makes this exotically beautiful woman even more mysterious. Great job!
Hilda beautiful piece! What an exotic beauty, and the name is perfect, because there is something sweet and naive, but mysterious about her. As Gwen says, I love how her hair merges with the dark background. Well done!
Thank you Bruce, Gwen and Claire for your kind comments. I was a little nervous making the background as dark as I did but when I finished I was happy with it...it actually made her pop right out.
Thank you for stopping by my blog, Hilda. It is always so great to meet other artists. This is a lovely piece and has a bit of mystery in her expression.
Thank you Gary, Ruth and Karen for that very nice comment. This painting was a bit different than my other work. It was a great challenge. thank you for stopping by.
Dear Hilda, Thank you for visiting my blog and a kind comment. Your pastel work is very heart warming and charming. Please teach me how to draw with pastel. Are you interested in figures? Me, too. I love it most. Let us keep it up! Kind regards, Sadami
Thank you Sadami..I am interested in the figures but can't seem to capture those muscle tones that you are able to do...also, I am in awe of anyone who works with watercolor...I think its a challenging medium ..
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
Her eyes speak to me. Great job Hilda. I love the dark background - really sets her apart.
