Thank you Joe. I've tried to work loosely but it turns to realism when completed. I just started another portrait which I'll post next week. By the way, love your roses.
hmuxo, I love your pastel work, the portrait of Rachel is outstanding. I'm a country girl & I love old barns. Keep painting those wonderful barnes, so the next generation can enjoy. Can you tell me what paper or ground you used to paint Rachel. I paint my grandchildren in pastel. I use Stratmore charcoal paper, "Velvet Gray". It holds lots of layers to my surprise. Blessings, LC
Thank you blue eyes for your kind comment. I used Canson -mi tientes grey for most of my paintings. I find that it also holds a lot of layers of pastels..but I have used Stratmore paper as well in the past.
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
Excellent, Hilda.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha. Glad you're back.
ReplyDeleteYou do a great job with pastel portraits! I find it easier to use them in a loose style but you're very talented with them.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, thanks for joining my blog. I look forward to floowing yours too.
Blessings!
