Hi Hilda, Thank you for visiting my blog and for the compliments. Your pastels are beautiful! I love this little ballerina - her pose and the softness and transparency of her skirt are wonderful! Hope to see more of your work.
Hi Hilda!.... Wonderful pastels... soft... but powerful portraiture... and an array of other subjects handled with the same skill.
Thank "You" for your comments left on my site... much appreciated! Old cars left "in retirement" always interest "Me"... just like faces of the elderly... they have stories to tell!
Thank you for that nice comment. I used canson-mi-tientes paper ..grey in color and used mostly soft pastels and glazed her face with hard pastels. I'm using Ampersand Pastelbord for my next portrait. Believe it or not it will be my first time using it.
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
