I loved her expression here and really needed to paint her. It's always fun looking into the family albums for that perfect reference photo. I remember taking this like it was yesterday.
Oh my Hilda - this is absolutely wonderful...love the title and you caught her expression beautifully. The pout as well as the eyes had me smiling as soon as I saw this on my sidebar. Take care and have a wonderful week. P.S. Your portraits as well as all your art is gorgeous. Hugs!
Thank you Susan. It pays to carry a camera at all times right? lol It was such a long time ago that I don't remember why she had such a pout … however, she was a bit of a Drama Queen.lol
Awwwww! thank you so much Julie. You made me very happy with your comment. I feel the same way about your still life paintings. All amazing! sending hugs..
thank you so much Sue. Believe it or not she's 18 already! The years passed by too quick. lol But its wonderful going through the reference photos for a painting. LOVE your recent paintings, Sue!!
Such a cute pose and a marvelous one for painting. Glad you could get a snap! I always look for poses that are a little "different." So sorry that she is tired or upset, but it makes an enchanting photo. Be sure to show it to her when she is 15 or so.
Oh Hilda - she is so precious! And you have captured her expression perfectly - what a lovely memory that you've made into a beautiful painting - just wonderful!
thank so much Connie. I have always loved her little pout.. she was a bit of the Drama Queen but she grew out of it and became a beautiful young lady. Like you said..wonderful memories. I'm glad you liked this painting...
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
