I love traveling on this Route through Arizona. You get to see plenty of Antique shops and General stores along the way that take you back to those happy memories.
And best of all... those barns that scream with stories..that we only wish we can hear.

What a fun narrative piece, Hilda. Love all those textures! You've done a beautiful job with the three-dimensional form of the car, and your shadow work beneath give it weight and truly "ground" it. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I really enjoyed painting this and adding all the colors in this rusty antique car. I'm so glad you liked it Helene!!!
DeleteI do love a painting that tells a story! This is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Helen. There were many old rusty cars screaming to be painted on Route 66. I have many reference shots that I'll have to paint someday. Have a nice evening...

Hilda, Route 66 has such an allure about it. We were in Winslow, AZ right on Rte. 66 and saw the statue mentioned in the Eagles song.
ReplyDeleteYour painting is amazing! It is so realistic and truly representative of the odd, old things one finds along that highway. Masterful painting, and the old Shell sign is so appropriate. Makes me smile, my friend!
thank you so much Carol. I'm so glad you liked this painting. It means a lot to me. Traveling on Route 66 is wonderful. We past many shops and galleries.. my favorite, of course, is passing the old interesting farms with the barns in the distance that make you daydream. Definitely a place to visit...
ReplyDeleteThe barn and the old car make a lovely pair! The beauty is we can come up with our own story about them apart from their own. Lovely work Hilda!
ReplyDeleteAwwww! thank you so much Padmaja. I'm glad you stopped by to comment. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteWow Hilda, this is wonderful!! I'm never likely to get to do Route 66 but I do love old wooden barns, antiques and old cars. This ticks all the boxes for me. The way you've rendered the rust on that old car is outstanding. Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you liked this painting, John. I love painting old barns, and antique cars and trucks. Traveling out West gives me the opportunity to take photos and paint them. Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteFabulous, Hilda! I had to take a second look to see if it was a painting or a photograph. You are soooo good at what you do!
