Sunset in Venice

There is so much beauty in a
Sunset. Beautiful as it is peaceful.
My cousin and his wife recently
traveled to Venice, Italy, where he
gave me this reference picture.
I've never seen this rich orange
color in a sunset yet. I loved doing
this painting in pastel. I tried painting
it in oil but couldn't seem to capture
the softness. I still don't know
how to move those great colors around!

    We have some lovely sunsets here on the Kent Coast in England - but usually more 'pink' than orange.

    thank you so much SUE for your comment! I would love to see those beautiful sunsets in England!! Many years ago I went to the canal by my house and saw a pink sunset which was very beautiful...the pink reflection from the sky in the water was amazing. I never took a photo!!!

    Beautifully done sunset. Love the glow. I also admire your painting of your dad and his great grandchild. The way you cropped the image give an intimate look at the love shared between generations.

    Your right, it is a very unusual colour for a sunset, the oranges just dominate the whole scene. Very nicely done.
