Hi Hilda, Thanks for visiting and for your encouraging comments.:-) It gave me a chance to visit your blog. Scrolling down through your body of work, there are many pieces to comment on, but I particularly like Your Wedding Day, Dance Rehearsal, and Plucked from the Tree of Life. Great work, well done!
Lovely lovely work! Enjoyed viewing your blog. I understand why you liked my "Anniversary" painting of my sister and brother in law. You are a very fine portrait artist. Thanks again for your comments on my work.
Hi Hilda. This is my favourite out of your portraits. You certainly are a wonderful Portraite Artist Hilda. I only tried pastels for a week a number of years ago. I was on a weeks Art course and the Teacher got us to use Sandpaper. My Fingers bled. I gave them up after that. but I must try them again with normal paper. All the best Hilda. Vic.
Thank you for that nice comment Victor. 42 years ago they used photo paper on our wedding photos that apparently was not good so all our pictures are literally fading...so before we disappear totally, I painted myself and my husband. As far as the sandpaper you used...ouch! I used pastelbord for this painting but normally Canson 431
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
