China Doll

Some little girls needs to be photographed.  This little girl was in the Bronx Zoo a few years ago looking at all the animals.  She didn't take her eyes off of them for one moment.. you wonder what they're thinking about!.  At that moment, I photographed her for a future pastel painting!!

  1. Como en todos los retratos que pintas, destaca de manera particular la finura de la piel y la abundancia de matices de color, fruto de una gran maestría. Mi felicitación, Hilda.

So I love your last three paintings so much. As a matter of fact I will be doing a few "dog portraits" soon and you will be my inspiration. They are a surprise so can't post them until I give them to their new owners! Love China Doll! My new favorite of my many "Hilda Favorites!"

  30. This is gorgeous! Will the little girl or her parents ever see this? I love to do that too... sneak pictures of people when they aren't expecting it. Those are the best subjects for artwork, I think! This expression you've captured is priceless and so beautifully painted.

    1. thank you so much KATHERINE... I took the photo of a few people as they were looking at the animals so I will never see this child again.. since I didn't get permission, I like to wait a few years to paint them. 31. Ah you captured the intensity and concentration but left the innocence. As always just love the skin tones, your mastery is evident again. Also like how you have done her hair as well. Great things going on. I like to take the kids pictures too and am always afraid their parents are going to think I am, well not a nice person. But the kids are so genuine and expressive. Bet she is going to be a vet when she grows up, ya think?

    1. thank you NELVIA for such a nice comment. Yes, you're right.. you do have to be careful..
      because some parents wouldn't approve..
however, when its children, I try to wait awhile and by the time I paint them, they look different... hopefully that would be acceptable?
It's just that I love the innocence in their expression. Enjoy this lovely day!!!
