Cali
Cali is a 2 year old rescue dog that was found as a stray in the streets of California and shipped to New York because they claimed that they had too many small dogs. We named her Cali for short! She's a Chihuahua/Italian greyhound mix and she's a sweetheart. She had some issues the first two weeks that she was with us but now she's a good little girl!! Adopting from a shelter was the best thing I did because there are so many animals that need homes and lots of love!!! She came to us already trained which was definitely a plus! My heart melted when I first saw my little girl in the shelter ...I knew then that she found her "Forever" home.

I loved reading your story Hilda and I LOVE the painting. What a sweet lucky little dog. I can tell how much you love her already.
ReplyDeleteThank you BARBARA...she is so sweet and I'm so glad I adopted her. She stays with me wherever I go! Glad you like the painting..
DeleteHilda, she is beautiful and she is one lucky little girl. I also want to adopt, but Mike has allergies, so it will have to be a breed that won't affect him, such as poodles, or shitzu, there a few. But I desperately want a little dog. Enjoy your new addition. Your painting of her is outstanding.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Joan
thank you JOAN for stopping by! I feel so lucky to have found her. I went to Kent Animal Shelter in Riverhead. They have lots of dogs and you can request a dog that doesn't shed...but do your homework because you don't want Mike to have any reactions! Cali looks bigger than she really is...She's about 15 lbs. Enjoy the rest of the weekend...
DeleteCali is beautiful, Hilda. I love her and this painting. So sweet!
ReplyDeletethank you SO much DARLA. She is so sweet and she always follows me around..I think sometimes that she's afraid I'm going to leave her. glad you like her...!!
DeleteOh boy - this is a heart stopper! Look at those eyes. I bet she rules the roost. I know I would be spoiling her. If only everyone would be able to do what you did and get a rescue pet there would be less numbers of dogs and cats being put to sleep.
ReplyDeletethank you JULIE for such a nice comment.!
DeleteI think it was the way she looked at me at the shelter with those yellow/brown eyes that made me take her! She looked so sad! but now she's a happy camper!!
and yes, if more people adopted, there would be fewer animals being put down.
C'est une belle histoire, Hilda, et un merveilleux portrait!
ReplyDeleteVous êtes une grande et généreuse artiste.

DeleteBeautiful job on this! You made her coat look so smooth and silky. She looks like a great pet!
ReplyDeletethank you so much JOAN! Yes, her coat is very silky and she's really such a sweet dog..she follows me wherever I go! I've had many dogs in my day, but I really like her..maybe because I don't know what she's been through in her short life...The vet told me she had a litter so I can imagine that the owners threw her out after she had her pups.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious painting and story. I feel as if I could touch her soft coat - that's how real your beautiful painting is. You are wonderful to give her a home - my doggie is a rescue, too - and I'm always so happy to know that another sweet animal has been saved.

Beautiful painting, Hilda. Doing this on velour paper was a good choice; her coat looks so soft. So glad Cali found her home with you.
ReplyDeletethank you so much PAT for stopping by and commenting on Cali. I enjoyed painting her on Velour paper...however, her snout is not as long as it looks but it was almost impossible to fix it..Once you put pastels on the paper, you can't erase it! I'm so glad she's with me as well!
