The reference picture was given to me by a friend, who requested a pastel painting of Tuscany. Tuscany is full of hills, mountains and beautiful courtyards. I especially love the old stone walkways and archways leading into those magical gardens.
Thank you DOUG for your comment. My cousin will be going to Venice this week so hopefully he will take some good photos for me. I've never been to Italy but understand its wonderful.
People say that Tuscany is the most beautiful region of Italy, It must be true judging by this beautiful painting. I hope to go to Italy next month and test it.
Great composition Hilda! I love how the potted flowers in the foreground create a real sense of depth, and the light on the arch is beautiful. Ahh to be in Tuscany....
Thank you Claire!! for stopping by my blog and for leaving me such a nice comment. My cousin just returned from a trip to Venice and brought back some great photos!
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
