Thank you all for your beautiful sympathy messages . It's been a very sad month for me, but I need to get started on my paintings like Dad would have wanted. This is my niece, Alani, after washing her hair. This was painted with pastel on suede paper.
The expression of this portrait is fully obtained. It's possible seeing the shine of water over her skin, a very difficult effect. It's a great portrait. I hope to see again your works and I thank you your so kind comments and for following my blog. Thanks so much.
Dear Hilda, Very lovely work and happy to see you get back to life. I understand your pain of the loss or see off the closest person for you. (My father passed away more than a decade at hospital.) Time does not await us, but I always remember the Ecclesiastes, "There's a time under a heaven." And Hilda, I feel a person who knows tears well can make others laugh:). Love and smile, Sadami
Hilda, my sympathy on the loss of your Dad. You will carry him in your heart and wonderful memories, not the least of which is his wonderful watercolor. How nice that the two of you could share your art.
This is a sweet piece of your neice. Her skin just glows -- lovely.
Thank you Mary for your sympathy..and your beautiful comment. yes, he was my critic on my paintings and now I feel so lost but he lived with us for 12 years and was so much part of our lives...he was a good man.
Hi Hilda. This is a brilliant portrait of you niece that you had done. So full of character. Also I`m so sorry to hear about your loss of your father. As you said, carry on painting that will help the sorrow to go away. All the best Hilda. Vic.
Your return to painting is the best tribute to your dad, and you do it in the better way. Your niece is lovely and you captured a beautiful moment. I love the brightness of water in the skin, the expression of innocence, the way you convey ... Good job! Congratulations
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
So glad to see you're painting again. This portrait of your niece is adorable!
