LITTLE ITALY
Even though this painting looks like Chinatown, it is Little Italy in New York City. I was there about a year ago and I feel like there's less of Little Italy as usual. But the restaurants are amazing and would recommend going there just NOT NOW. Lots of angry people in NYC right now and they recommend not going ... very sad.

ReplyDeletethank you so much for stopping by to comment!!! I have so many reference photos from downtown Manhattan. Time to start painting them...lol Enjoy your day.
DeleteHilda this is beautiful work. You captured the feeling of a place you loved. Yes it is very sad. Praying for peace. Take care friend.
ReplyDeletethank you so much Debbie. I'm glad you liked it. I haven't been to Manhattan in a few months but unfortunately too many things going on and not safe. But hope someday soon things will go back to norm....

ReplyDeletethank you so much Stephanie. So glad you liked this painting. I enjoyed painting Downtown NYC....I need to visit your paintings. I hope you're well.
DeleteHaven’t been to either place but your lovely painting makes me want to go. We need some peace right now. Reminds me of a saying Gene had posted in his office, “Grant me patience, and I mean right now!” Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI love Gene's quote that he has in his office. very true!!! I'm glad you stopped by to comment on my painting...
Deletewow!
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for your comment. Its so appreciated. Enjoy your day....
DeleteHi Hilda, I have sent a small mail request.
DeleteLovely painting, Hilda! Hope you will be able to enjoy a meal there again soon.
ReplyDeleteI empathize with New Yorkers. It's much different being isolated in a tiny city apartment than in a beach house in Malibu or in a celebrity compound.
Thank you Chris. I live less then an hour away from Manhattan traveling on the LIRR
Deletebut with all the tension there I don't want to go so I REALLY can't wait to visit the museums and walk the streets again.. Soon I hope. sending hugs.
What a gorgeous painting Hilda...love the rain , the light from the windows and how the the people seem frantic to get shelter. I so hope ( like we all do ) that this pandemic will come to an end SOOOOON !!
ReplyDeleteI hope this pandemic goes away quickly, as well.. I feel like its not going away for awhile so thank God we have our paintings to keep us busy. I've been seeing lots of videos on portraits using oils... So interesting...Stay well, my friend.... hugs
DeleteBeautiful job on this, Hilda! I enjoy(ed) going to Little Italy many times. It seems like a lifetime ago. Thanks for sharing this with me and taking me back.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to go back to Manhattan, Joan. I feel like its going to be awhile. It does feel like a lifetime ago that I went as well.
ReplyDeleteGlad you stopped by to comment...you made my day.
What a great atmosphere in this painting, Hilda! Love the light coming from the shops! Even when we can't travel far and have to stay in our own environment, we are all connected. Stay safe, dear Hilda!
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy for such a nice comment. It IS wonderful still connecting with our friends here on bloggerland! Stay safe, my friend.
DeleteThe work is very good, it has dynamism, color, movement, it has everything, I have good memories of my visit to New York, although it's been a while, but it struck me.
ReplyDeleteRegards.
Thank you so much José. You’re always SO kind.
DeleteI’m glad you were able to visit New York. Today, it’s not the best time to visit. I miss going to the museums and the beautiful sights.
Everything about this painting is wonderful _ I absolutely love it! Beautifully done, Hilda!
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much Connie. You just made my day! Glad you stopped by!!!
Thank you so much Martine. I’m so glad you liked this .... you always make my day with your visit!!! Sending hugs....l
ReplyDeleteGreat job of capturing the reflections and weather related colors. My memories of the food in the restaurants are still intact Unforgettable! Hope you are surviving this weird time and you and your loved ones are all staying safe.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Julie. It’s nice to hear you visited this area. The smell of the food was in the air...
ReplyDeleteI miss your paintings my friend.... I hope you and hubby are doing well. I just celebrated 52 years of marriage but we couldn’t celebrate with everything going on. Not an easy time for anybody today!!! Sad!
Sending hugs
I love this! I love city scenes with awnings and umbrellas. Hugs
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Barbara. It was such a nice change from painting portraits. I've been trying landscapes but love City scenes much more. I wish I can go to Manhattan but its really not safe so I'll wait it out a little longer. Sigh!! sending hugs to you.
Gros Bisous
