My Nephew who lives in beautiful North Carolina took this reference shot and asked me if I can paint it. I just loved all the beautiful colors in the sky that I took my oils out quickly. Someday, I would love to do a sunset in pastels as well. .
Truly breath-taking, Hilda! There is nothing that stuns me more than a sunset/sunrise. They make one stop in their tracks, so to speak. Love the silhouettes of trees and branches and all of that color!!!
thank you so much Carol. I agree... I've seen many sunset/sunrise in my life and they are all so unique. Its always amazing to see. I'm glad you liked this painting. I enjoyed painting it.

This is beautiful! We do have gorgeous sunsets and sunrises here in NC and of course those famous Carolina blue skies. Your interpretation has a very tranquil mood.
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
