Still Life - Hydrangeas

I don't paint flowers but I had so much fun painting these Hydrangeas.   I picked a few from my garden and put it in this old vase that I found many years back and made a bouquet for this painting.  I used Rembrandt pastels and used Unisom pastels as well since they are so vibrant in color.  Unfortunately you really can't see it in this photo.  I think I got carried away and added too many flowers for the size of the vase!!!   What was I thinking?   I couldn't even put water in the vase.. lol

  14. Don't you just love these big Pom poms. Nice work getting the feeling of individual flowerets, I think that is always difficult with these. Love the colors, just makes you smile. I miss mine, they haven't bloomed now for last two years, bushes get big but no flowers, got to try to figure out why. We get early Spring freezes that kills back the stems, but others in neighborhood still bloom so,don't think that is the reason.

    Gros bisous

  43. You did the Hydrangeas proud Hilda. They look exactly like this in a vase because their heads are so large, and you need quite a few to hold them in place.
I have a vase filled with Hydrangeas which looks exactly like this one. I applaud you for attempting to paint this difficult subject, and acheiving fabulous results. Love it!:)
