JACK

Jack is an Artist from my Friday art group who was nice enough to pose for this reference picture.  I haven't worked in pastels for many weeks because of my hand but I'm feeling so much better since I've been resting it.  My Orthopedist feels that it is nerves coming from my neck or shoulders that is creating the problem.  Thank you all for your comments!
But more important!!! www.wallpart.com is stealing our work off the internet and selling them as posters!   This really needs to go viral so we can stop them.  I know, because I found my work there when I typed my name.
Some of the Artists in the Pastel Society believe that they want you to order a poster of your work.  Once you put the order through, they can get into your computer.  Very scary people out there.  So sign the petition....I already did!
The link is
http://www.change.org/p/remove-wallpart-com-stealing-people-s-work-without-permission
and feel free to share the link with other artists....   I will be visiting all of you soon!!  I look forward to catching up!!

Your portrait is fabulous - as usual. His eyes are amazing. Not an easy position of the head to render

    1. I really am feeling better Julie! The pain was almost unbearable but resting the hand is what really helped! I limited the time of painting for no more than an hour since I don't want to push it! And I don't understand how Wallpart thinks they will be getting away with this... Enjoy your Evening... I am looking forward to visiting everyone!

  6. What beautiful expression you've caught in his face! Such a wonderful portrait here, Hilda! I am so sorry that the hand woes continue but at least it sounds as though you are on the mend. I hope so. If carpal tunnel related, not sure if there is a fix. But hopefully so with the problem being from shoulders...I don't know. I'm rambling, Hilda!! So annoyed to hear of the taking of people's art!

  9. I wondered where you had been, I imagined you on a 'Round the World Cruise' not suffering with carpal tunnel problems!
I haven't visited your blog for a while and still you have managed some lovely work, especially like the oil portrait. If you mix your oil paint with a bit of 'Liquin' (W&N) they will dry much faster

  16. Lovely to see your beautiful work again. I'm so glad you are healing . Another heads up on that link for WALLPART. DO NOT HIT ON THAT LINK! I did and my Apple security stepped in big time and blocked my I Pad. Rebooting restored it, but for a few minutes there, I was a bit hysterical. So glad to be able to tell you.

  23. Hi Hilda! I'm so sorry you have been having health issues. This portrait is just lovely, your skin tones are always so good. I took pastels and watercolor paper with me when we went camping last week, I sketched then wet them down and added more on top. It was fun and I didn't have to take so much with me. I'll. check out that site, thank you.

  30. I hope you're feeling better. The portrait is excellent, and again, I admire how you bring out such personality! About the petition... I checked into that website where the petition is located, and I don't particularly trust them either. Anybody can post a petition for any purpose they like. A better way to stop the walpart is to contact their web host directly. I have a link to do that, someone posted it on Facebook too, if you want to do that.

  32. Hilda, my apologies for being tardy in posting.Your portrait once again is fabulous! There's so much character in Jack's face I can see why you wanted to paint him. I can see him as the main character in a novel. Wonderful skin tones and hair and whiskers are so life-like.
I see where the Wallpart site is currently NOT available. Let's hope it's a permanent thing.
