Somewhere out East..!
I took the reference picture for this oil painting when I was out East..somewhere on Long Island!! This is the first time I have no clue where this was..it's sad because since its so close to the water we'll never know if its still standing after the Hurricane. I thought it would make a nice painting with the light hitting the weeds against the house and the wood pilings in the water...I enjoyed painting this ..!

Wow, I missed two of your best works. This and Esperanza! So glad to see you up and working. My heart goes out to everyone suffering from Sandy's devastation. You are such a strong source of inspiration.
ReplyDeletethank you TRUDY for stopping by and for your kind comment. I'm glad you like Esperanza ..and now its time for the re-building after the storm in my neighborhood. We only have to cut out part of the wall downstairs by the bathroom...the door is so warped and won't close..so just a few minor things we have to take care of.
Deletelovely work

ReplyDeletethank you so much SANDRA!!! I just read in the newspaper that a lot of these "marsh" homes that were built on pilings couldn't survive the heavy winds when "Sandy" hit. What a shame!! Glad you stopped by.

Christa
thank you CHRISTA!! You just made my day with your comment! I have been thinking and thinking where I took this reference picture and I'm almost sure that this is one of many Bay houses near Fire Island, NY and if it is, it doesn't exist anymore because of the Storm..I'm very curious and want to do more research. Hugs!
DeleteThis is so gorgeous! I love the golden glow, and can just imagine that moment in the evening when the sun bathes everything in magic light. It's a breathtaking scene, truly!

You've captured a sense of timelessness with this painting. I'm with Carol, hoping this little house survived the storm. When I clicked on it and saw it larger, I saw all the shimmering light in the weeds and the reflections in the water—beautiful!

Mi piace molto e ti fa sentire parte del tutto!
Ciao, abbracci, Floriana
You so kind, FLORIANA!!! Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know what? Its kind of serendipitous that you don't have the exact location on file, because now people can speculate that it's near their home, or it's that place over in such-and-such... I found with my own little drawings that people like to think you drew their street, or their town, and they will convince themselves that you did! It's a beautiful painting!
ReplyDeleteI love your comment, KATHERINE! .. from now on I'd like to jot down where I was that day, as well..!hmmm, it could be near anyone's home!
ReplyDeletethank you for stopping by!!
