Richard

Richard was our Friday model. He modeled for two weeks at my Long Island Portrait group. I loved his hat and poncho...When I paint a portrait I focus on the face but a few of the artists paint the entire body and the poncho was really nice. I used my Rembrandts and unison pastels for this portrait..

  3. Hello Hilda! Wow, very nice work. So different isn’t it to paint from life instead of a photo! Which one do you prefer?

    1. thank you so much Helen.. You made me so happy with your comment. Yes, painting from life is so different but I have to tell you that I took a photo as well because I truly don't like to paint from life!! I know I should and I really try but I love detail work ... so I prefer painting from a photo.

    Bisous

    1. Thank you so much Debbie. When he started to pose for us he stuck the cigar in his mouth and I took his photo but all the artists thought he looked better without it...I liked it so I decided to paint it in. I'm really happy that I did.

  6. So many areas are special in this one, Hilda. As usual it is your attention to details I always admire...the facial hair, the fuzz of the poncho, the moving eyebrows, the wonderful angle of the cigar...you ROCK, my friend...you rock!
