Baiting Hollow Farm
I took the reference picture of this sweet horse in Baiting Hollow Farm vineyard on Long Island. It's not only a vineyard but a horse haven. The horses here have been given a second chance in this beautiful sanctuary. You can clearly see these rescued horses were given so much love...they were once marked for destruction and now they are safe and secure. When you buy wine from the winery, a portion of the profits support the horse rescue....So, if you're on Long Island it's a wonderful place to visit!! And the wine is outstanding!!!

What a beautiful horse, Hilda. I would so love to visit a place like this. I always picture Long Island as being kind of a small enclave (partially get that idea from watching 'Everybody Loves Raymond'). Glad to know there is some rural type land there and that it provides shelter to these beautiful and thankfully now loved horses.
ReplyDeletethank you SHERRY!!! There's so many beautiful places to visit on Long Island and of course, this is one of them.. especially during the Summer months when you can sit outside with a glass of wine and look at these beautiful horses. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

DeleteI'm glad you stopped by the winery! now you know to stop for some wine next time!
it's not too far from you...
I am partial to brown horses and this one looks like a real beauty. I love how you captured the glowing light. Why were those horses to be destroyed? Are they wild horses or wounded ones? Sounds like a special place to visit. Lately I've been noticing a small neighborhood farm on my daily walks. The goats are so adorable and there are chickens too and old wooden sheds and charming fence everywhere. I have been tempted to knock on the door to ask if I can photograph their place and capture some of the animals. I am too shy though and I worry they would think I was strange.
ReplyDeletethank you so much LISA for stopping by and for your comment!! These horses were abused and brought to this Farm where they're taken care of. www.bhfvineyard.com tells you so much about horse slaughter and how you can support a bill making it illegal to take horses to Mexican and Canadian slaughterhouses!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think you should knock on the door and ask if you can photograph some of the animals...they probably will be happy that you
would want to take their photos...Enjoy your day!!
I so like the beautiful abstract quality of this piece. It's a wonderful portrait of a lovely animal and also such a fluid graceful series of curves.
