Nikolas

This is my 8 year old Grandson, Nik.  I told
him that I wanted to paint a portrait of him but
I needed to take some reference pictures of
him first...he agreed and started to smile... I
told him that it would be better if he didn't
smile since I really don't like to paint teeth!!!
so he posed so seriously after that and
started to laugh!!  When he calmed down,
I took some nice shots but now he looks a
bit depressed.  LOL  I enjoyed painting
my handsome little man...

  1. Great job on him, Hilda. I wouldn't say he looks depressed, just a bit skeptical...LOL. Has he seen it yet?

    1. thank you for your comment, CAROL! I guess skeptical is a good word! He hasn't seen it yet...maybe tomorrow! Have a wonderful evening!

  2. Terrific portrait! He doesn't look depressed, he looks like a little boy who is perhaps guilty of something and is getting scolded. I knew three little boys who looked like that on more occasions than I care to remember.

  4. Brilliant! I think you've got so much going on here, that the picture develops a whole lot of character. He seems to be saying, 'How much longer?"

Love it when you pose him because you don't like painting teeth :0)

  5. Es un retrato muy hermoso. Tu nieto no se ve deprimido, está pensativo esperando que le digan alguna cosa. Es un niño guapísimo y tu pintura está llena de expresividad.

  10. So many things to like. Yes, the obvious, wonderful expression in his eyes, but I also like the lighter shade under the bill of his cap, the plaid of his shirt and the perfect harmony created with the background color.

  20. These days my granddaughter is 20 months here!
no much time for blog and little time for painting, but what time for joy! I tried to make sketches for a portrait but it is in mo tion constant . The portrait of your nephew is
interesting . Children sometimes laugh in his portraits as "mannerism" wants
but is nice to have other views, such as this,Hilda, more personal!I love this portrait!
