On our way back from Tennessee we stopped to take some photos of old barns. I think they have such character. Someday they won't be around but hopefully I'll be able to capture the moment of a few of them.
I've been watching your blog and your portraits on pastel. You are very daring, people always protest with them. I prefer painting trees, nobody get angry if a branch is longer than other one. It's a joke. I like your barn, and portraits are very realistic.
Hi Hilda, Your barn just puts me in the peaceful countryside. I do hope you do a few more, because there's something about the serenity and history of old barns that really draws us in. We all want to know their stories perhaps. Thanks also for you kind comments, greatly appreciated.
Claire, I'm doing another painting of a barn right now. I have so many photos from Tennessee and W.Virginia. One is nicer than the other..I guess I'm a Country girl at heart.
My name is Hilda Muxo Klinger. My passion for art came early.I have always said that I was born with a pencil in one hand and a box of crayons in the other.I am a Bronx born New Yorker who can remember sitting at the kitchen table copying faces that appeared in the newspapers and magazines as a girl.
I am married 53 years and have two daughters and five amazing grandchildren. While I worked and raised my family in East Rockaway, I used art as a form of relaxation, painting here and there. I dabbled with several artistic mediums through the years—everything from pencil to charcoal to oil and it was only after I joined The Parish Social Ministry Art Club in East Rockaway in 2006 that I realized my true passion of pastels.
I studied under Dan Slapo and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a class more than I did with him. He taught me many different techniques in painting a portrait. Working with a live model was so different for me and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to work with this Master of Pastels...He encouraged me to join the Pastel Society and I am now an Associate Member . I am thrilled to say that I have displayed my paintings in Rockville Center Village Art Club and have received several ribbons for my work. Thank you for visiting my blog. I will continue to add my painting in the future and hope you enjoy them as I have enjoyed painting them.
Beautiful! I grew up mostly in Illinois, so it looks very familiar to me!
