The Bald Eagle
I have always loved the Bald Eagle. They stand so proud and they are the national bird of the United States. I took this reference photo when I visited the zoo. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to fly, so they're taking care of him. They represent strength, freedom and they look so majestic. I did an Eagle a while ago in pastels but I wanted to try it in oils...

Hilda this is absolutely fabulous. His fierce look says so much. Even though he cannot fly there is strength in this beautiful bird. Hope you have a great 4th of July. How appropriate is this painting for the coming holiday!! Hugs

DeleteYou painted a magnificent eagle, Hilda! They remind me always of the traits that you mentioned. Love where the brown feathers meet the white. Such a realistic transition of colors. Also, that eye! It seems to be looking right at the viewer. I love to hear their calls or cries to one another. Reminds me of solitude and open spaces.
ReplyDeletethank you so much Carol for that nice comment. I'm sure you see many eagles where you live... an amazing bird..
