Early morning cruising

I was on my way to Fire Island and took the reference photo of this sailboat for this pastel painting.   You can see the background clearly but I chose to blur it out.  I loved the light hitting the boat and how it reflected in the water. 

Still Life - Hydrangeas

I don't paint flowers but I had so much fun painting these Hydrangeas.   I picked a few from my garden and put it in this old vase that I found many years back and made a bouquet for this painting.  I used Rembrandt pastels and used Unisom pastels as well since they are so vibrant in color.  Unfortunately you really can't see it in this photo.  I think I got carried away and added too many flowers for the size of the vase!!!   What was I thinking?   I couldn't even put water in the vase.. lol
